Texas Legal is a statewide, nonprofit legal benefit plan founded way back in 1972 by the State Bar of Texas and the Texas State Legislature with one clear mission: make legal services more accessible to everyday Texans. Over the decades, their brand matured and their legal expertise sharpened, but their website? Let's just say it didn't keep pace.
After years of wrestling with an outdated site that was a pain to manage and completely disconnected from the rest of their polished digital presence, Texas Legal knew it was time for a digital do-over.

Building the Brand Before the Site
Before the website redesign could happen, Texas Legal needed a solid brand foundation to build on, and Monkee-Boy was there to help establish it. We delivered a light logo refresh that added a tagline, comprehensive brand guidelines that gave Texas Legal clear standards to reference across all touchpoints, and a suite of collateral including photography, brochures, and more that brought the brand to life. Comparing legal coverage plans shouldn't require a law degree, but with multiple plan options (e.g. Select and Preferred) and plan sizes (e.g. Individual and Family), things can get complicated fast. The Monkee-Boy team created an elegant tabbed solution that lets users first choose their plan size, then dive into the details of each option, making what could be an overwhelming decision feel manageable and clear. Each plan's benefits, coverage, and costs are laid out in an easy-to-compare format that helps users make confident decisions. Texas Legal expands their reach to a significant portion of the Texas population while demonstrating a genuine commitment to serving all Texans, no matter what language they speak at home.

Another large part of what drove the main site redesign was the need to bring it up to speed with the Attorney Finder, a robust search tool Monkee-Boy built back in 2019 that makes connecting with the right legal professional as easy as ordering takeout. Users can filter by attorney name, practice area, certifications, languages spoken, and more, then view results as either a convenient list or an interactive map to gauge proximity. Each attorney profile is comprehensive, featuring practice details, a simple contact form, and verified client reviews that build trust before the first handshake.
Weigh Your Counsel
Finding the right attorney is a big decision, so the Monkee-Boy team designed and built a comparison tool that works like a shopping cart for legal professionals. Users can select up to four attorneys to compare, tweak their selections as they go, then view all the critical details (practice areas, languages, certifications, states licensed in, and special accommodations) in a clean, side-by-side column format. The cherry on top? They can print or email the comparison to share with family members, business partners, or anyone else who has a say in the decision, making it easy to get everyone on the same page before reaching out.
