MoPac Expressway Website Redesign Project
Share:

Monkee-Boy along with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) have launched the new Mopac Improvement Project website detailing the construction process of reducing congestion on Mopac by adding Express toll lanes designed to keep traffic moving even when adjacent lanes are congested.

Brand New, Fully Functional

The new website for Mopac Express features:

  • Responsive Design- the site is 100% responsive and adaptable for mobile, desktop and tablet;
  • An interactive map on the homepage with construction alerts to easily show users where to expect delays;
  • Social media to engage users, primarily on twitter to keep followers updated;
  • A blog to detail construction plans and updates;
  • A custom content management tool built for the client to dynamically populate construction alerts and project photos.

The Mopac Improvement Project is the combined efforts of the city of Austin, TxDot, CTRMA, and CapMetro to fix the increasingly difficult traffic problem on Mopac by using Express Lanes that will be tolled lanes in the middle of the Mopac corridors. In addition to the Express Lanes, the project also calls for the construction of sound walls to keep the noise of construction low for surrounding neighborhoods, upgrade the appearance of the corridor with aesthetic enhancements and landscaping, enhancement of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and enhanced traffic monitoring and incident management.

An environmental study was completed in 2012 that found the Express Lanes with variable pricing to be the preferred alternative for addressing long-term mobility issues on Mopac.

Monkee-Boy is proud to help educate the city and keep the public informed about the ongoing improvements on Mopac by teaming up with the Mopac Improvement Project and creating this new site.
